Which credit card to use in a big online sale

Bank sale offers come with caps, minimum orders and exclusions. How to work out which card saves the most on your order, using this year's Amazon and Flipkart sales.

Every big sale has a headline: 10% off with a bank card. The headline leaves out the details that decide what you actually save.

The three details that matter

What is known for this year's sales

For the Amazon Great Indian Festival starting on 8 October 2026, Amazon's announcement names 10% off with SBI credit cards, debit cards and credit card EMI. Amazon has not yet published the cap or minimum order for the main sale. During Amazon's early deals from 25 September to 7 October, PickMyCard reported a cap of ₹13,750 a credit card, a minimum order of ₹2,490 (₹4,990 for phones), and no discount on Cashback SBI, Flipkart SBI and Paytm SBI cards. PickMyCard says the main sale runs under its own terms, so these can change.

For Flipkart Big Billion Days, starting on 9 October, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank offers of up to 10% have been announced. The cap and minimum order are not published yet and usually differ by product. The checkout page shows them.

These details can change during a sale. The offer shown at checkout is the one that counts.

When a rewards card wins

A card with no bank offer can still win. Some cards earn a high reward at a specific store with no cap, and on a very large order that beats a capped discount. On a small order the discount usually wins. The break-even point depends on the card and the order value, so it is worth working out for your own order.

The sale offers pages do this for you. Enter your order value and they show the saving for each card after caps, for the Amazon and Flipkart sales and the other big sales. The ranking uses savings only and never depends on whether Saifu earns from a link.

If you do not have the right card

A new card takes days to be approved and delivered, so check the timing against the sale dates. Do not take a card only for one sale. Annual fees, interest on unpaid balances and a hard enquiry on your credit report can cost more than the saving.
