The dates that matter for individuals from October 2026 to August 2027, in order.

October 2026

Returns for 2025-26 fall under the Income-tax Act, 1961, and tax year 2026-27 onwards under the Income-tax Act, 2025. The department sometimes extends a date by notification, as it did for audit cases this year. Check the Income Tax Department's site before you rely on one.
